Jeff.

So, Jeff Kao is by far one of my favorite people in Chicago to ride with, talk with, grab a bite to eat with.  Generally I have always loved his attitude toward cycling and known he is a great person.  Well, in the last couple years he has had the bad luck of being injured twice pretty significantly.  First a broken arm, which he was given fancy Titanium plates and screws and other super elecronic doodads to make him even more of a super human.  Then, this past spring, Jeff got into a knock down dragged out brawl with a moving vehicle which left him with a broken leg.  More titanium and fancy doctor work has him back on his feet and healing quickly.

Fast forward 3 months: I am riding down some random street one Monday Evening and here comes Jeff in the opposite direction on his OnOne!  Seeing Jeff back on his bike was one of the best things to happen to me all year.  I yelled out his name, stopped, turned around and he got a big hug.  Fast forward even more to last weekend.  The VeloCity Tour came though Chicago with a day planned of track racing at the Kenosha Velodrome.  A phone call to Josh informed me that Jeff was planning on driving up for some of the events on Saturday at the track.  So, I called Jeff and it took very little persuasion to get him to re-build his track bike and plan on an early trip up to the track for an hour of riding before anyone else got there.

Riding with Jeff on the track was great.  And all of our talk of cyclocross has him excited enough to think he will be able to make it out to some of the cross races this year.  I am really happy Jeff is back on his bike.  Of all the people who could be laid off their bike because of an accident, Jeff certainly shouldn't be the one it falls upon.
